Continuum of Care: The Patient Journey
Seven Decades of Healing & Grace
A Mission Begins
Founded by Bishop V. S. Selvanather in Omalur to extend compassionate relief to marginalized leprosy patients.
First Reconstructive Surgery
Pioneering restorative surgeries begin under German medical collaboration, bringing back functional hand and foot movement.
Orthopaedic Workshop
Inauguration of the specialised splint and microcellular rubber (MCR) protective footwear production workshop.
Modern OT Renovation
Complete modernization of the surgical theatre with state-of-the-art sterile airflow, lighting, and patient monitoring.
Preventing disability. Restoring mobility.
Loss of sensation in the feet is one of leprosy’s most debilitating consequences. LRRC’s in-house footwear workshop creates customized Microcellular Rubber (MCR) shoes that redistribute pressure and prevent life-threatening recurrent ulcers.
During 2024–2025, our workshop crafted 145 pairs of tailored MCR footwear, engineered 3 specialized DFC spring shoes for drop-foot patients, and performed 266 preventative footwear repairs.
